I got mail today in the Spring-Themed Handmade Blythe Swap that I took part in. It didn’t take long for the girls to get into their new clothes (and for one, a new shoe). The awesome dresses came from battywing.

Sophie is looking lovely in a green-and-pink combo dress, along with some fabulously bright green heels. (This was also today’s 365 photo! We’re currently at 17/365.)

Bennett is wearing a beautifully crocheted dress that matches her blue eyechips wonderfully!

More Benny spam.

Belarus is looking equally beautiful in a new dress as well. In case the photo’s too small, the skirt of the dress is a cherry print on a black background. Very adorable.

Sophie: !!! You’re wearing my boots!
Tertiary Jane: These are *my* boots. And you’re wearing the sweater that’s getting sent away.
Sophie: What on earth is wrong with this world?

I’m participating in a swap with a Flickr/twitter/Blythe friend, so I’ve been knitting. One of these sweaters will be sent away and the other will be added to my (slowly growing) collection of doll clothes.

Sophie is wearing a sweater by me, skirt and knee socks from Hogwarts Heroes Hermione doll, furry boots by re-ment.
Tertiary Jane is wearing a sweater by me, navy blue star shorts by re-ment and Simply Peppermint stock black boots.

Me: That letter.

Sophie: Oh, *this* letter?
Me: Yes, that letter. What is it?

Sophie: LOOKIT! I got MAIL from HOGWARTS and they want me to GO TO THEIR SCHOOL AND BECOME A WITCH, zomg.
Me: …
Sophie: I can turn Eden into a mouse!
Me: Uhh, Sophie… Did you see who the letter was addressed to?
Sophie: No, why?
Me: Just take a look…

*turns letter around*
Sophie looks down.

Sophie: What the #$%^ is this?!

Sophie: This isn’t my name, is it?
Me: I’m afraid not…
Sophie: Who the &%$@ screws up addresses THAT badly?!
Me: … I’m not sure. And where did you learn those words?
Sophie: Belarus…

Sophie: Oh well…
Me: Guess you’re still a Muggle.
Sophie: Can I still get a Hogwarts outfit?
Me: Sure, I’ve got just the thing
Sophie: I’m still awesome, even without the wand and magic and stuff, right?
Me: Yup!

Me: Oh really?
Sophie: Yup! How can you *not* know that? I have a gold medal and everything!
Me: What did you get a medal in then?

Sophie: I got a gold medal in skeleton, of course. Blythe’s have big heads, this makes it so that they have an added advantage compared to you so-called “proportional” human beings.
Me: Are you sure that’s not just your ego talking?
Sophie: … I’m going to pretend you didn’t just say that.

Evolution of me, in dolls

When I was younger, I had short hair (think mushroom or bowl cut) with straight-across bangs. Which reminds me a lot of Eden with her hair cut. Right down to the wonky bits that stick out more on one side than the other (miraculously, I never got teased in the lower grades in elementary school for it, I grew my hair out soon after though):

When I got a little older, I grew my hair out (especially the bangs!) and had a side-part, which looks quite a bit like Bennett’s hair (except mine wasn’t so incredibly long or wavy).

Now, I’ve got long straight hair with a centre part. Cue in Belarus. =)

Now, I’m not sure if there’s a particular reason why I was drawn to these dolls (lol), but I do find it amusing that my three dark-haired dolls happen to correlate to a specific time in my life when I had bad (or good) hair styles.

Starting at the 12:00 position is the Flu, from GIANTmicrobes, then it’s Elijah (from Build-A-Bear fame, also my go-to-bear for modeling human-wear over at Chelle-Chelle.com), Sumi (Vancouver 2010 Paralympics mascot) and Collie (my eldest teddy bear living with me, also the one that I took everywhere with me when I was younger).
